Kemet, the fertile land along the banks of the great river Nile in Africa, is the birthplace of one of the world's oldest religions. This religion was so much a part of everyday life that the people of Kemet did not even have a word for it. They worshipped Netjer, the Divine Power that created everything in the universe. They also experienced and had relationships with the many Gods and Goddesses that Netjer created. They did this through prayer, worship, and doing what is right. In the modern-day practice of this ancient religion, we follow Netjer as the ancients did. In this way, we honor our ancestors, our people, and our gods, and we come closer to the Creator who loves us so very much. |

Netjer is greater and more powerful than anything humans can understand. In order for us to have a relationship with It, Netjer created the Gods and Goddesses, also called "the Names." Each of these divinities is an aspect of Netjer and can communicate with us and help in our lives. Added together, all of the Names make up the whole of the Divine Power we call Netjer. Another way of looking at this idea of the "One and the Many" is to think of a jewel with many facets, or sides. If you imagine Netjer to be like a jewel, then each of the Names would be a facet of that jewel. Each Name is both a part of Netjer and a Divine Being in Its own right. |
